Happy new year from Takacat!

We spent 3 days rowing down 90km of the Whanganui River with a Takacat Lite 300 and had heaps of fun exploring this amazing part of the country. The Takacat Lite was the ideal craft to travel down the river keeping us and our gear very dry when going through the rapids. Once again the boat proved to be extremely stable and could easily keep up with performance of the kayaks and canoes commonly used on the river. Give it a go, too!

2010 World Rowing Championships - A great success

As proud suppliers of the on-water safety and support craft we were privileged to be a part of this very successful event. As mentioned by FISA, this world class event has raised the bar for on-water safety and support for all future events to follow.

10 Takacat Explorers worked around the clock as safety and marshalling boats and received brave reviews for their stability, usability and low wake characteristics.

Billy Webb Challenge– Whanganui River 13/11

Takacat will be supplying the Takacat 460 Freedom with console as the official umpire boat to this weekend’s Billy Webb Challenge in Whanganui River.

Half Ironman - Lake Karapiro 13/11 + Review

“We recently had the opportunity to use a TAKACAT during the Karapiro Half Ironman on Lake Karapiro, New Zealand.
We require a number of features in a boat, the most important of which is a stable working platform. We have to set 1.8m buoys in up to 60m of water with 2x 25kg weights attached (that’s lowering and lifting the weights over the side of the boat), and also need the ability to pull swimmers from the water while also carrying 2-3 other crew & photograph as well as the ability to quickly transport compedators back to land for treatment if required.”

Harbour crossing – Auckland 20/11

As the chosen TV camera boats for this iconic event Takacat will be providing a steady platform to film of for Sky TV crews. 1000+ swimmers attempting the crossing of the Auckland Harbour in the first event of the National New Zealand Ocean Swim Series which Takacat has always been a part of with buoy plotting, marshalling and camera boats. We look forward to another great season.

2010 World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro, Takacat a proud supporting partner. This great event commences on 31st October and runs until 7th November with our unique Takacat Explorers in action as safety and support craft.

You will be able to view Takacats on both the lake and land for the full duration of the championships. As well as having 10 safety and support boats on the lake we will also have a displaying stand with the full Takacat range so come and see us between the racing.

New console options are now avalaible.

Takacat Explorer introduces a new 2-man jockey console option to go with its new rigid deck design. It creates a whole new dimension for seating and steering and is ideal for coach boats and personal watercraft.

Takacat Freedom introduces a new double back seat with off-centre console and front seat. This new set-up makes great use of space and has already proven to be very popular with the first two orders underway. A great set-up for 1 to 2 fishermen, 3 people cruising or playing with water toys and or 4 - 5 people boating to shore.

The new Lite series has had a very good reaction with good sales from both local and international markets. It has been reported that it can plane with as little as a 2.5hp and we know that with a 5hp it seems to have heaps of speed with one person on board. It has very good load carrying capacity and the lightness and portability are very popular features.

Further testing on propellers has led us to recommend upgrading from the standard propeller to a more hi performance stainless steel propeller which will enhance your boats performance. Takacat Lite Series is launched and a new era in inflatable tenders begins!

Extremely light and portable this new catamaran tender has something for everyone. It rows great, it has brilliant performance under power and like all Takacat catamarans provides exceptional stability and safety. Great for a tender, the campervan or for a fun sports boat.

Having received a very good revue from the "Trade A Boat" April inflatable boat buyer's guide ("An excellent and innovative approach to the traditional inflatable tender") we look forward to exciting times ahead. Stay tuned for new photos, videos and info.

New Aluminium trailers

Our first aluminium bolt-together trailer has been completed and put through the tests with a trip down to Pukehina for some surf beach launching. It’s light, tows extremely well and makes launching and retrieval a breeze.

We can customise a trailer to your personal requirements and can offer road or simple beach launching trailers that are great for a quad and batch set-up.

The first Takacat Freedom with a console set-up was launched and delivered to a happy customer using it as a tender for a large vessel. It handles extremely well and provides a very stable platform for boarding and beaching, fishing and diving and has heaps of power for pulling the kids around on water toys. Since the launch we have received orders from customers in Greece, Australia and New Zealand and interest in this unique concept continues to grow.

A sole distributor was appointed for Greece & Cyprus. We are pleased to have on board www.ithakimarine.gr - an innovative company that deals in the sales and charters of large catamarans and now the Takacat range as tenders and day boats.
