Takacat Tube Transom (R) / Quick Release motor mount
Tip: When inserting the Tube Transom use soapy water.
Unlike conventional ribs or inflatable boats Takacats can be re-tubed simply and cost effectively due to our revolutionary tube transom (R). Our fully removable high-pressure air deck floor system, and tubes are not fixed or glued to a hull or transom. There is no hassle or costly process to have your aged of damaged tubes re made and re glued to the hull. You just simply order a set of new tubes direct from Takacat.
Takacat's removable high-pressure (10psi) air deck floor systems is very rigid, absorbs impact and also provides a real comfort factor under foot.
A thicker and more rigid air deck floor system was introduced during 2015. New for 2016 / 2017 Takacat has started custom production of a unique anti skid protective top layer with UV additive. A very strong fabric to fabric bonding system that provides additional protection to the high-pressure floor. Ideal for fishing and everyday boating use.
Takacat's innovative open and fully removable transom design enables the Takacat to be rolled-up smaller, easier and lighter than traditional inflatable boats. A big advantage when it comes to handling, transportation and or storage of your portable boat.

The use of a Hydrofoil plate can provide some great advantages including fuel economy, stability and tracking. We have found Permatrim Hydrofoils a very good match for the Takacat hulls and are highly recomended for optimum performance.
Have your propeller cupped. This is a technique used to enhance the performance of propellers under certain conditions in this case a light weight, tunnel hull inflatable. If you are experiencing cavitation (prop spinning out) then this can easily be fixed by getting the prop cupped. It's a basically the turning over of the top edge of the propeller which in turn provides extra grip so water doesn't slide off the top edge. This generally makes a big difference to the all round outboard / boats performance and will enable you to get on the plane quicker as well as the ability to plane with a heavier load.
If you experience any water kick back it's most likely that your outboard is to deep in the water. Simply raise your outboard with a wedge until you find the optimum running height for your outboard / load / boat set-up. Alternatively, a foam wedge (or similar) under the floor at base of transom will have the same effect. These heights can very due to different heights of the forward facing spray defector on each outboard brand / model / leg.
